Our founding partner Jan Guldentops takes a critical look at the world of cyber security, privacy and the technology sector.
The world is rarely one-dimensional. It is a complex mix of progress, disappointment, joy and harsh reality. Don’t expect only cheerful stories or profound ‘the world is doomed’ pessimism here. We look at the world through the lens of an iconic western…
The good
Our sector is one of continuous progress, innovation, new ideas and new products. Things that can make society more efficient and better in so many ways. We try to describe in plain language what new possibilities there are and how you can understand and, above all, use them yourself.
The bad
Regrettably our industry is also home to no small amount of nonsense, incompetence, and dangerous forms of malpractice. The sector is often immature and steeped in a “fake it till you make it” mentality. What is going wrong and, more importantly, how can we structurally avoid this in the future? We call a spade a spade, because hard truths heal faster than soft lies.
The ugly
And sometimes the technology sector is just plain ugly. In the field of cybersecurity, for example, we have been beating around the bush for 20 years, hoping for a deus ex machina, a golden product that will solve all our problems. While we all know that the only solution lies in taking structural control of our own digital resilience.
